Greetings,
allow me to introduce
myself. My name is Chuck, an active outdoor type with a bent for exhilaration.
If it makes your heart quicken then chances are that I'll like it. After
nine years of Aircraft Engineering, professional skydiving was my full
time thing, 4000 skydives plus 100 base jumps, NZ parachute team &
a fourth at the worlds. Add to this heliski guide, professional juggler
& part time maniac. Great lifestyle right until I broke my neck in
a motorcycle accident in January '97. What on earth can you do with a
brace holding your head on? Well, firstly I learned to ride my unicycle
backwards, juggle three balls in my left hand (just previously dislocated
my right shoulder) & contemplate a new career as the demands of being
a free fall cameraman could be a bit rough on my new screws. After taking
stock of all existing talents & knowledge of ability to learn more
I formed Drastic Measures, a video production company primarily to compliment
the unique video footage I shoot of exceptional people doing exceptional
things. My first major production, a tutorial on whip techniques for a
master whip maker became the highest rated video of its type in the world.
Full steam ahead...until knee surgery in February '99, phew. Two months
later, off to Nepal & Tibet as a high altitude cameraman on an expedition
to one of the worlds 14, 8000m peaks. Nothing quite like snowboarding
at 25 000', first runs of the season, dealing with altitude, crevasses,
new knee, the heaviest pack in existence & the whole big mountain
experience. Since then projects have included teaching a New Yorker to
basejump for a US, 13 part TV series; camera man for a production on the
Southern Traverse, NZ's nastiest adventure race; discover, develop, document
& jump (repeatedly) a fine new base cliff in the mountains of my back
yard & more.
I have recently joined forces with Julian Grimmond & Alf West, together
we are The Mountain Film Unit. A team of three, talented craftsmen working
(and playing of course) together to carry out the philosophy of capturing
& creating excellence in productions, not only to push the boundary
but
to burst through it & leave it behind. By leading from the front,
we choose the path, speed & direction.
I have taken many pursuits beyond the accepted limits of the time, I have
learned the processes to take any event beyond what was possible before,
to only see success & find a successful solution to my own challenges
despite all the obstacles between turning a dream into a reality. After
all...a dream is just a dream, until it is acted upon. Once we KNOW we
can realize our dreams, we have removed the barrier preventing us from
their pursuit or any other. Imagine how many doors this then opens, now
that I have the power to do anything I want, the question becomes...OK,
just what is it that I/we/you want...because, now I know that I can achieve
it?
This is what I'm good at. Who needs limits? I work with possibilities,
imagination, faith, confidence, goals & dreams. Positivety produces
positive results. Turning dreams into reality...every day.
Chuck
